Where do you work?
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I love exercise, sports, and movement. The best part about being a physio is being able to help people move and get back to the things they love while rebuilding their confidence with what their body can do. I also really enjoy teaching and supervising students. I love being able to share knowledge about something I am passionate about and to watch students grow in their abilities and confidence.
Why does physiotherapy matter?
Other than just providing the right exercises and helping modulate symptoms through various techniques, physiotherapy is important because we teach and educate people about their bodies with regard to movement and injury. Increasing their understanding on when to progress or reduce load, modify aspects of their lifestyles, and help them form and achieve their goals.
What drew you to physical therapy?
As a former varsity rugby player, I dealt with many injuries and saw many different physiotherapists. There were bad physios, and there were amazing physios throughout my rehab journey. The good ones really gave me a positive outlook on my injury, listened empathetically and didn’t trivialize my goals or concerns.
Ultimately, they got me back to a sport that I loved and gave me the confidence I needed. I was inspired to do the same for others.
What is one thing we might be surprised to learn about you?
I am currently picking up a new hobby and learning how to mix and DJ music!
