Now that I’m in a teaching role, I get such a kick out of passing along any skills or tips that I’ve picked up in my career. If I can give students or other therapists a new skill that makes their sessions successful, I’m happy. I feel so privileged to be able to provide a little positivity, humor, empathy, or supportive care in a place where people may be feeling unwell or unmotivated.

I enjoy being able to demonstrate being the type of instructor that I wished I had on my own placements, and the type of therapist that I would like to encounter if I was a patient. I am lucky to be able to meet so many people who offer me learning opportunities every single day to allow me to continue to grow as a therapist and as a person.

I believe the public knows how important physiotherapists are in private/sports clinics. These are professionals who provide the skills and knowledge needed to help people heal injuries and return to sports or their daily lives with less pain and more strength.

I feel that physiotherapists who work in hospitals are just as important, however, may not be as well known for their significance. Patients may be feeling their absolute worst, and we are the folks that help them to get out of bed, walk, and become strong enough to return home safely. And hopefully, do it with a smile and make it the most positive experience it can be.

I knew in high school that I wanted to be in a profession that involved helping people in some form. After I graduated, I joined a gym and became interested in learning about muscle movement. Through this, I began studying human anatomy. In addition, I already knew that I needed a physically active career. Physiotherapy was the perfect combination of all the above. I am truly blessed to be able to say that I absolutely love my job.

Hmm, anyone who knows me knows that I tend to be on the more sarcastic side. I try to find humor in most situations because life is too short not to enjoy every moment. My most recent hobby is finding heart shapes in nature when I’m out walking or hiking trails. It always brings a smile to my face. It’s surprising how many hearts are out there if you look😊.
