Master of Physical Therapy – North
2nd year student
What inspired you to pursue your program?
I was ready for a career change and was dealing with some of my own injuries at the time. A physiotherapist helped change my mindset from thinking that I was broken and going to be living with those injuries forever, to fully believing in my capacity to heal myself.
Injury or pain is not only a neurological signal but also the interplay between the biological, psychological and social factors surrounding it. Physiotherapists, like all healthcare providers, have the potential to help patients transform their beliefs around healing and overall well-being.
Why did you choose UBC?
UBC’s Master of Physical Therapy program in Prince George was an obvious choice for me because of my love for small-town living and access to the great outdoors. I really appreciate the small class size and wonderful instructors here. It’s a family that supports one another.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
Community placements! This is our chance to put our learning into practice, interact with real people and explore the province.
