Dr Lara Boyd Receives a Distinguished University Scholar Award

October 27, 2023

Dr Lara Boyd has been recognized as a 2023 Distinguished University Scholar for her work in motor learning and developing novel therapeutic approaches that stimulate recovery after a stroke.

Dr Boyd’s efforts continue to support the health of individuals by shaping practice and advancing knowledge related to the neurobiology of stroke recovery and novel noninvasive brain stimulation therapies.

The Distinguished University Scholar program recognizes members of UBC Faculty who have distinguished themselves as exceptional scholars.

Read the original news release.

The central themes of my research are to: 1) advance understanding of the neurobiology of motor recovery after stroke by the study of biomarkers, and 2) use this information to develop new interventions that can be personalized for Canadians with stroke.

Over the next 5-10 years, my work will advance the use of biomarkers to decide what treatments are best for which individuals and then personalize therapeutic approaches to optimize recovery.

Dr Lara Boyd
