Class of 1982 reunion in June 2022

The UBC Rehabilitation Sciences Alumni Bursary was first established in 1982 by the Rehabilitation Student Council, with a letter-writing campaign for BSR* alumni.

Prior to 1982, all rehabilitation science students were provided with a government stipend which helped students with the costs of their education. The first bursary of $500 was awarded the next year to the first recipient in 1983. Currently, the endowed bursary is awarded to up to six students each year (total of $6,400); up to three for Masters of Physical Therapy and up to three for Masters of Occupational Therapy.

Since its establishment, the UBC Rehabilitation Sciences Alumni has distributed 68 awards in the Masters of Physical Therapy and Masters of Occupational Therapy programs totalling $105,215.

Thanks to our community of supporters, including alumni, we have been able to substantially grow the endowment over the years to a current total of $185,551. This has allowed a sustainable source of funding for 40 years! At this time, we can celebrate this achievement by making a contribution to this bursary fund, to support students that now pay a yearly tuition of $7,854 to become healthcare professionals.
