Call for Proposals for PT KB Led Projects 2021

logo ubc mpt department

 Intent

The purpose of this call is to invite proposals for projects facilitated by the Physical Therapy Knowledge Broker (PT KB).

Background

The PT KB position is jointly funded, at a 1.0 FTE, by the Department of Physical Therapy at The University of British Columbia, Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia and Arthritis Research Canada. The position is shared by Alison Hoens and Paul Blazey.

To date, the PT KB has partnered in ~$17 million of funded research and more than 60 projects undertaken with over 500 clinicians, researchers, students, healthcare decision-makers and patients/families that have produced 22 resources accessed ~600,000 times worldwide.

There is now an opportunity to identify new projects that can help address gaps in BC and beyond.

Process

Given the tremendous scope of settings (e.g. clinical, research and educational settings; adult, children, private practice, public practice, community settings) and areas of practice (e.g. neurological, orthopaedic, geriatrics, cardiorespiratory) it is important to ensure that a transparent process is used to identify and guide the selection of projects that will be facilitated by the PT KB.

  • The number of successful submissions will be determined by the relevance, potential impact on practice (e.g. relevance across sectors and/or highly significant to a specialized area of practice), feasibility for partnerships, leveraged and required resources, and by the PT KB workload capacity.
