Upcoming presentation: Therapy in China: lessons of a UBC grad

2015_06_26_SHEILA_2

Ms Purves began her studies at UBC pursuing a degree in history but after hearing a career talk given by a therapist from what was then the Northwest Territories she switched her focus to Rehab because she was inspired to help others.

More than 20,000 students in mainland China have benefited from Sheila Purves’ knowledge of rehabilitation and her work facilitating Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists and Speech therapists to do service learning. Ms. Purves developed training programs in community-based therapy for the World Health Organization’s Collaborating Centre for Rehabilitation in Hong Kong and she has conducted training courses for doctors who came from all over China.  Through the training of care providers she has greatly improved the quality of life for countless patients and people with disabilities in urban and rural China.

Come listen and participate in the discussion and be inspired yourself!
