Extra! Extra! “Clin Ed News” is News!

extra-extraIt’s been a busy past few months, as those of us who deal with content and maintenance of the UBC PT web pages have been working with our MedIT group to transition our website over to a new UBC CLF. “CLF” stands for “common look and feel.” UBC has come up with guidelines (http://clf.ubc.ca/) for how affiliated sites should look (e.g., colour schemes) and feel (e.g., navigation). If you had told me two years ago that I would be using terms like loop code, leftnav, and breadcrumbs and happily adding pages, links and content, I would have laughed; I’m not that web-savvy. Thankfully, the platform now used by UBC (WordPress) is very user-friendly. It started as a blogger’s choice, and has now morphed into one of the most popular tools on the web.

A next logical step is using this platform to keep you – our Clinical Educators – more quickly informed. Andrea – one of our CEs- started my brain whirring when she asked about avenues to hear our Clin Ed news directly, rather than waiting to receive it funneled through her supervisor.

RSS feeds are a quick way to get our message out there. We will continue to give our news and updates via our newlsletter “The Globe,” and will always send important information and updates via email to our Site List Contacts; now we just have another avenue to get the word out. Things we’ll announce might be a new workshop, an update on a policy, or an invitation to an event.

Subscribe if you like. (We hope you will!) We promise not clog your inboxes or RSS Reader with endless posts. Just the time-sensitive and current news!
