The College of Health Disciplines Interprofessional Awards Committee has selected the Interprofessional Rheumatology Teaching Team as the recipient of the 2010 Award for Excellence in Interprofessional Education Teaching.
Tal Jarus (Department Head of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Sciences[OSOT]), Michael Lee(Clinical Associate Professor OSOT), and 2 students from MOT & MPT spearheaded the nomination this summer. The teaching team includes Jerry Oleman (an Aboriginal person, Indian Residential School Survivors Society), Logan Graham (a young person with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, Children’s Arthritis Foundation), Pam Sherwin (Logan’s mother, Children’s Arthritis Foundation), Iris Davidson (PT, Mary Pack Arthritis Program & BC Children’s Hospital), Heather Best (OT, MPAP & BCCH), Jenny Tekano (Nurse, BCCH), Danielle Eccles (Social Worker, BCCH), Dr. Lori Tucker (Rheumatologist, BCCH), Catherine Backman, and me.
Dr. Li and her team will be presented this award at The College of Health Disciplines first annual Awards Recognition Reception on November 4th.
