My name is Naomi Casiro and I am a UBC Physiotherapy student graduating this November. After completing my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Victoria I set off to travel and volunteer throughout South America as I hopefully awaited an invitation to the interview for the MPT program. Throughout my travels I volunteered with three organizations, the first a group called the Canadian Association of Medical Teams Abroad who travel to Ecuador to perform surgeries and provide rehab for the poor. The second a group in Cuzco Peru who run an after school program to keep young children educated and off the streets. The third and final place I volunteered was with a group of young girls in the North of Argentina. After meeting these incredible young girls I knew I had been provided with an opportunity, to be inspired and inspire in return.
