May Nolan named the 2013 Awardee for Excellence in Community Practice Teaching

May Nolan with students 2009May Nolan’s teaching in physical therapy for over 20 years, consistently earns outstanding evaluations in entry-level and post-graduate settings. May is the undisputed lead clinical teacher in musculoskeletal physiotherapy; particularly orthopaedics and manual therapy.  She is a provincially, nationally and internationally recognized expert in orthopaedic and manual physiotherapy. May has trained over 100 students on placement, has been involved in countless hours of classroom teaching to both students and clinicians in the community. May is co-author of a textbook which serves as a primary reference for the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, Orthopedic Division course levels 1-3.

May Nolan is an exceptional teacher whose contributions to clinical teaching have inspired countless students and clinicians throughout the community, she is more than worthy of this award for excellence in Community Practice Teaching. The UBC Department of Physical Therapy has been most fortunate to have benefited from May Nolan’s dedicated services.
