Come and visit Prince George. People are friendly here. We are the largest city in Northern BC we have a full range of big-city health amenities to keep residents fit, stimulated, and happy. Plenty of bookstores, athletic facilities, shopping, and natural settings are here for you to enjoy.

We have excellent recreation and fun at your fingertips. Mountain biking and skiing are both minutes from your doorstep. We have canoeing, fishing, hiking (Mt. Robson is a short drive away), snowshoeing and very active running and biking clubs. The surroundings have potential for whatever you want to explore.

Swimming pools, ice rinks, movie theatres, restaurants and gorgeous parks are just a short drive away.There is a year-round farmer’s market in the downtown region as well as one at the University each week! Public transit is available.

Patient population description:

We see clients from several weeks of age infants to school age. We have a broad variety of children that require services including developmental delay, high risk infants, orthopaedic abnormalities, Cerebral Palsy and other neurological conditions, Muscular Dystrophy, Torticollis, brachial plexus injury, exposure to drugs and/or alcohol, various syndromes including Down Syndrome,and pre- and post-surgical needs such as rhizotomy and muscle release.

Physiotherapist expertise on site (special interests, degrees, certificates, etc.):

Most of our therapists have many years of experience in working with children’s needs and/or have specialized skills in the areas of neurology, orthopaedics, rheumatology, respirology, infant and child development, positioning, splinting and orthotics.

We work closely with the Pediatric Therapist at the hospital, so there can be opportunity to visit the NICU and spend some time with acute patients.

There is a therapy pool at the hospital that we have access to do pool sessions. The School Age program also has a weekly swim program.

There is opportunity to design and run some group programs for preschool-aged children.

Sunny Hill has a twice annual seating clinic at our centre and the Assisted Technology Team also sees clients once to twice a year.

Possible Interprofessional opportunities at this site:

We have Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy on site and have the ability to work with both discplines in an interdisciplenary manner.

Our Family Resource Worker works closely with CDC program staff, external agencies, and parents, providing assistance in a variety of ways.

We have Pediatricians that visit our site and conduct case conferences. We have a Pediatric orthopedic surgeon who works closely with our clients, on occasion students are able to attend surgical procedures at the hospital.
