Welcome to the UBC Graduate program in manual therapy.
The UBC Graduate Certificate in Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapy (GCOMPT) is offered as a specialty program, affiliated with our online MRSc program (Master of Rehabilitation Science). The GCOMPT is designed and taught by experienced and motivated physiotherapists with a passion for treating musculoskeletal conditions.
By the end of this program, graduates will be able to provide advanced, orthopaedic manipulative physiotherapy assessment and treatment that will enhance their provision of effective, evidence-based care .
Key features of the program include:
- Taught by experienced clinicians and instructors
- Flexible clinical mentorship assignments with an approved FCAMPT-designated therapist of the learner’s choice
- Mixture of online and face to face learning delivered over a 2 year period. In-class sessions feature a maximum of 10 learners per instructor and are held at the UBC Vancouver campus
The curriculum is designed in accordance with the standards developed by IFOMPT (the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists) and is accredited by CAMPT (the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists). The curriculum has been approved by UBC senate, and IFOMPT’s accreditation process will be ongoing during the first cohort (2017/18 – 2018/19). Graduates of IFOMPT-accredited programs are eligible to apply for status as FCAMPT (Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Advanced Manipulative Physical Therapists).
